Yongjung Kim - Observational Astronomer
Hello, I am Yongjung Kim, an Assistant Professor at Sejong University in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
Before joining Sejong University, I worked at Korean Astronomy & Space Science Institute (KASI), Kyungpook National University (KNU) and Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA). I earned my Ph.D. in Astronomy at Seoul National University (Seoul, Korea), under the guidance of Professor Myungshin Im. You can find more details about my academic journey on this page.
My research focused on observational astronomy, particularly studying quasars across cosmic time. I investigate their demographics and their contributions to cosmic reionization and the ionizing background in the early universe. Additionally, I explore the formation and growth of supermassive black holes hosted at the centers of quasars and their interactions with host galaxies over cosmic time. Please visit the Research page for more details.
